Exploring Pride and Prejudice: A Journey into Jane Austen’s World

This year, our 1st Baccalaureate students embarked on an exciting journey through Pride and Prejudice, one of Jane Austen’s most famous novels. To truly understand the story, they not only read an adapted version of the book but also watched the film and explored Austen’s world: her society, customs, and the time she lived in.

Through this project, students discovered why Jane Austen wrote as she did. They saw how social class, marriage, and family expectations shaped her characters and stories. This deeper understanding helped them connect with the novel in a more meaningful way.

To bring the world of Pride and Prejudice to life, our students created amazing projects inspired by the book. They wrote letters between characters, designed elegant wedding invitations, and even composed songs that could have been played at a Regency era ball. Some students designed grand mansions, imagining the homes of Mr. Darcy or Elizabeth Bennet. Others researched traditional recipes and made cookery books with dishes from Austen’s time. Diaries, fashion catalogues, and even etiquette guides were also part of their work, helping them visualize life in the early 19th century.

This project was not just about literature; it was a way for students to experience history, culture, and creativity. They gained a deeper appreciation for Jane Austen’s work and the world she wrote about.

Congratulations to all our students for their hard work and creativity!
