Diary Mullingar, Ireland
Sunday
We arrived in Mullingar, Ireland! After the journey, our 60 students from 3rd and 4th ESO met their host families. Everyone was a bit nervous at first, but the families were really welcoming. The rest of the day was spent getting to know them and settling into our new Irish homes.
Monday
First day of school! The students started project-based English classes in international groups. It was great to see them interacting, collaborating, and speaking English from the very beginning. In the afternoon, we had our first taste of Irish sports: rugby and Gaelic football! Most of us had never tried them before, but we had so much fun learning and playing together.
Tuesday
Treasure Hunt day! We explored Mullingar through clues and challenges in small teams. It was the perfect way to get to know the town and practice English at the same time. The students discovered local landmarks and even talked to some people in town. After lunch, we continued with our projects. There’s some great teamwork going on, and lots of creativity!
Tomorrow, Dublin!
We’re all looking forward to our day trip to Dublin tomorrow. We’ll visit Trinity College, see the Book of Kells, and walk around the city centre. The excitement is real!
Our Irish Adventure!
The second half of our trip was just as exciting as the first. On Wednesday, we took the bus to Dublin, and to our surprise… it didn’t rain! We had a two-hour guided tour of the city, learning about some of its most iconic landmarks. We visited the impressive Dublin Castle, heard the story of the famous Molly Malone, and explored the lively Temple Bar area. After the tour, students had some free time to wander around the city centre, do a bit of shopping, and soak up the atmosphere.
Thursday brought us back to nature. We visited the gardens of Belvedere House, and although it rained steadily throughout the morning, the students loved the experience. The gardens were beautiful and full of charm, even in the wet weather. Later that day, we continued with afternoon English lessons as usual and returned to our host families!
On Friday, after the final morning of classes, with videos, certificates and final moments with our Irish teachers, we gathered at a local pub in Mullingar for a farewell celebration. The students had lunch together, danced, played games like pool and karaoke, and spent time chatting and laughing with one another. It was a lovely way to wrap up a fantastic week.
Saturday was our last day in Ireland. Students spent the morning with their host families, enjoying some final moments in their temporary Irish homes. In the afternoon, we headed back to Dublin and made our way to the airport for our return flight to Barcelona.
It was a week full of learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories. We’re incredibly proud of how the students embraced every activity with enthusiasm, curiosity, and great behaviour. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this trip possible!
